Cheap Online Forms

Always ask what you are getting for your money

  • Do you get a lease or do you get a form with blanks to complete?
  • What help do you get with filling it in?
  • Can you make changes?
  • What if you want to extend the lease?
  • Is it written by a lawyer? Is it written by an Australian lawyer?
  • What guarantees do you get and is there any insurance?
  • How many different options does it allow you to fill in?
  • What special conditions can you add?
  • Can you add extra security, like a director’s guarantee?
  • How much experience do they have – does it cover all the common risks?
  • Does it comply with the Law in this State?
  • Do you get any help in filling in the blanks accurately?
  • Is there any personal service available?

Is the lease any good though?

An old trick used by people promoting online legal documents is to claim that their documents are “Legal” or have pictures of lawyers. Then in the fine print it says that you are not dealing with real lawyers and they are not providing legal services. It is like trusting a TV doctor to treat you.

Some risks are not worth taking

The problems that come up with leases can be very expensive. And problems really do come up. Your property is valuable and so are your rights as a landlord. They should be properly protected.
